Seems as though everyday we hear new information regarding gas drilling in NYS. It's about time someone takes the lead and informs folks like yourself who are looking to buy land in NY. Let us state upfront we have nothing to gain in this debate other than educating the people we depend on,our customers present and future. For many years we bought and sold land in the Southern Tier region of NY. It appears those days are behind us. In recent months we've invested significant time looking for land to buy in the Southern Tier. We found nearly 80% of the properties we looked at had some type of gas rights issues. This usually means the rights have been sold to another interest such as a gas drilling company. There's nothing wrong with that except we aren't going to buy under those circumstances and neither should you.
So why doesn't all of this gas rights/drilling talk affect the North Country? It's quite simple, the gas isn't here. Please click on the map below to see where the gas is present. The area SOUTH of that brown line is where the Marcellus Shale holds natural gas. North of that line there is no shale, therefore no natural gas. Please take a minute to watch the video and read the attached articles. There's plenty of information every buyer should have. After watching the video and reading the articles it's doubtful you'll even consider looking at land in that area. If you are going to then we'll at least know we've helped inform you of what to be aware of. Thanks for visiting our site,we hope this helps.
